An exclusive, museum grade limited edition print release capturing the tension of biological armour and vulnerability, reproduced from the monumental 1.5 metre original ink drawing by Australian draughtsman Jeesoo Kim.

The Story

Lobster Romance began with a fascination for a peculiar biological paradox: an organism completely encased in impenetrable chitinous armour, yet fundamentally defined by vulnerability. To grow, the crustacean must endure ecdysis—shedding its entire protective shell and exposing its soft, defenceless body to the crushing pressures of the ocean. It is at once utterly fortified and profoundly exposed.

Translating that tension onto paper demanded over 100 hours of solitary, meditative drafting. Working on a monumental scale across Arches hot pressed cotton rag, every segment of the spiny carapace, jointed limb, and fan tail was built solely using fine nib archival pigment fineliners. There are no diluted washes, white gouache corrections, or digital alterations—the blinding, water-slick highlights and glistening chitin textures are created entirely by the raw, untouched white of the cotton paper against dense fields of black ink.

At nearly 1.5 metres in height, the drawing transcends traditional natural history illustration to become a sculptural portrait of endurance—proof that resilience is not about remaining invulnerable, but about having the courage to shed old armour to grow. This strictly limited print suite reproduces the micro-stippling, razor-sharp line weights, and textural depth of that original masterwork with complete fidelity.

The Story

Some projects are not planned; they are felt. When I first encountered the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso, it was an immediate gravitational pull. The quintessential Art Deco lines, the ingenious engineering of the flip mechanism, and the understated elegance of its geometry presented a challenge my pen could not ignore.

To honour this legacy, I embarked on a solitary, nocturnal pursuit—a 1.5 metre tribute to the "invisible" craft of horology. Working on massive 640gsm Arches cotton paper using fine-nib technical pens, every reflection in the steel casing and every minute hatch marking on the dial was rendered by hand over hundreds of hours.

In a moment of serendipity, the finished masterwork was discovered by Jaeger-LeCoultre and subsequently exhibited officially at the maison's own private brand event. This strictly limited print suite reproduces the micro hatching and tonal depth of that original piece with complete fidelity.

The Story

Before 2020, my practice was defined by speed, movement, and the open air—capturing the fleeting energy of travel through spontaneous urban sketching. When the world paused during lockdown, I inverted my entire methodology: trading loose, plein-air line work for the uncompromising discipline and physical demands of monumental hyper realism.

Drawing directly from my time as a watch magazine illustrator, this series was conceived as a tribute to the obsessive, unseen craftsmanship of haute horlogerie. While James Bond is instantly recognisable on screen, I wanted the viewer to inspect his iconic timepieces through the loupe of a master watchmaker—bringing microscopic chamfered bevels, radially brushed stainless steel, and mechanical balance into dramatic focus.

Translating micro engineering onto a monumental 101cm × 152cm scale demanded total technical restraint. Rendered on heavyweight 640gsm Arches cotton paper using fine technical pens, the three piece suite documents three cinematic benchmarks: the vintage Rolex Submariner Ref. 5513 and two modern Omega Seamasters.

There are no white gel pens, gouache highlights, or digital corrections. The brilliant flare off the domed crystals, the metallic sheen of the brushed lugs, and the sharp luminescence of the dial markers are all raw, negative space—the untouched white of the French cotton paper preserved through hundreds of hours of controlled stippling and micro hatching. With the original masterworks now held in private collections, this strictly limited print suite reproduces every micron of steel, glass, and ink with absolute fidelity.
